BHAAG MILKHA- A REVIEW Rating-***** One Wednesday, we had the opportunity to hobnob with a hero! To experience getting into the skin of a real- life warrior- the Flying Sikh of India, the man whose sole aim in life was to run; to run and to win a gold for his country. A person who gave his everything to survive and win, a living legend Milkha Singh. We had the opportunity to watch the story of his life through the film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The biopic, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, directed by Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, gave us a chance to spend three hours with Milkha Singh. The way the story unfolded was spectacular. A little refugee boy from pre- partition India, who wielded a knife and became a coal thief, went on to join the army and eventually broke an athletic world record in the 1960s. This is the story right here! The action really kicks in, in the second half. Milkha Singh is by now an international athlete of repute. He trains hard, runs hard, and most importantly, does not allow himself any "distractions" in his quest to beat the 400m world record. The movie now slickly veers towards what I'm interested in watching. And it doesn't disappoint. The scenes featuring the races are shot with a finesse that is unmistakable, and there is remarkable thought put behind each of them so as to not to make them repetitive. There is never a dull moment when Milkha runs. Every time you see him run, it is a jaw dropping moment and the win, just what we expect. When you're done watching Rakesh Omprakash's epic effort, you'll come out of the theater wanting to run. Wanting to be a better person. Inspired! An inspirational tale that inspires every young mind and leaves everyone with food for thought that is BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG.
